The ASEAN GMP standard is based on ISO 9001, and the key requirements of the ASEAN Cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practice (ASEAN Cosmetic GMP) align with the ISO 9001 quality management system. The implementation of GMP emphasizes the structure of production facilities, raw materials, production equipment, and personnel to minimize contamination risks from sources that could lead to such contamination. Additionally, raw materials and product formulations (Formulation) must be approved before production and distribution, ensuring the safety of all ingredients.

ASEAN Cosmetic GMP System Evaluation

The evaluation of the ASEAN Cosmetic GMP standard covers the following:
1. Quality Manual or Equivalent Quality System Documents

2. Personnel – This includes organizational structure, qualifications, responsibilities, and training.

3. Premises – Location, design, and structure of production facilities, measures to prevent contamination from the external environment, air systems, piping, lighting systems, quality control rooms, storage areas for raw materials, finished products, packaging materials, labels, and printed materials.

4. Equipment – Installation, positioning, and maintenance of production equipment.

5. Sanitation and Hygiene – Personnel hygiene and cleanliness of premises, equipment, and tools.

6. Production Operations – Raw materials and packaging materials, production lot numbering, weighing and measuring, procedures and processes, labeling and packaging, finished product quarantine, and storage in the finished goods warehouse.

7. Quality Control – Chemical, physical, and microbiological testing facilities, quality control of raw materials, packaging materials, finished cosmetic products, and the release and storage of product samples.

8. Documentation – Documentation system, requirements, and production records.

9. Internal Audits – SOPs or standard procedures for internal audits and responsible personnel.

10. Storage – Proper storage practices for products.

11. Control of Manufacturing and Analysis – Contracted manufacturers and analysts.

12. Complaints – Handling of customer complaints.

13. Product Recalls – Procedures for product recalls.
